About

I’m just a girl from the prairies who enjoys triathlon, being active outdoors, cooking and eating good whole food, and living life.  In 2008 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis.  For the next year I battled and fought to regain my life – I wanted to be active and fully engaged in life.  Sitting on the sidelines was hard and not much fun.  One step at a time, I regained my strength and mobility.  I experimented with food and learned how impactful our food choices can be on our overall health.    My journey back to health and fitness eventually led me to triathlon.  2018 will mark ten years since my diagnosis and so my intention with this blog is to celebrate how far I’ve come and how much further I hope to go… is there a full Ironman in my future?  I hope that this blog will inspire others to prioritize health and physical activity in their lives.  As someone who never felt like I belonged in a sport nor viewed myself as an athlete, I hope that all sports become more inclusive and less elitist.
